ive just come back from racing at barrow and had a real hard time getting my engine to start,if it doesn't start first turn you've got to wait 5 minutes and try again else it just turns over and does'nt try to fire, anyone got any ideas has to cause ?

ask clive (cj marine) vicky crump had the same problem and i cant remember how he fixed it.

You most likely flooded it. You need a fuel pump on/off switch, that way if it happens again you can just cut the power to the fuel pump crank it for a bit till its dried out switch the pump back on and then try again.

Cheers,

JBD (using Burty's computer)

not that, ive got both fuel pumps on switches, wont start with switches on or off.

Certainly sounds like flooding though, maybe the switches are faulty?

To clear the flooding, you'd want to crank it for quite a while (10-15 secs) with the fuel pumps off, and the throttle wide open, to try and dry it out.

Yep, you could also pull the kill cord to ensure it doesn't momentarily fire whilst the throttle is wide open.

the fault turned out to be a broken reed, the reeds gone through the engine and broke the rings on number 3 piston, luckily ive got plastic reeds so block will clean up nicely, its also marked the head but im having high compression heads fitted anyway.
