In 1965 PanYan and Boffins Coffin were both Glastrons on the race competitors list so seem to be two different boats.
In the Putney Calais Putney Race Pan Yan Came first and Boffins Coffin Came Third.

Im also sure I read somewhere that Boffins Coffin later had a Mercruiser150 inboard but I can't find the info !!!

Thanks Timtap
I didnt look up 1965s result list! I dont know how long Boffins coffin was racing.

Further to that in 1966 Boffins Coffin Changed to 2xMerc100s
Kings Favourate had 2x Johnson 100s
and Pan Yan had the 2x75 Evenrude Format

I guess it was one of those boat that remained the same name then! Thanks.

Thou for some reason i have a number 12 in my mind on Boffins Coffin when was 11/12 years old i helped my father prepare the boat for another repaint! I thought i uncovered the #12, clearly thou i always remember the name in the same place as the Grahams 1967 picture.

Kings Favorite left the late Norman Barclay and right "Mr Powerboat " Tim Powell

Rrr

Your Russell Junior!

I couldnt remember Lens name last time we spoke about your Puddle:) i thought i was talking to Len.

Has Len handed the lake down to you guys then? I am sorry i cannot remember your name. Is it Scott?

Illl have to scan some old photos of her as she was in the 70s and 80s.

Hello, My Dad, John Fleming raced on Boffins Coffin with Tim Curtis as he worked for the Boat Showrooms of London in Kensington High Street in the early 60's. they were the importers of Glastron in the UK. Pen Yan was owned by Sven Ulander and was imported by himself before we had the franchise. My Dad raced with Sven a ciouple of times which probrably convinced him to sign up as the importer. soo there was a team of Glastrons racing in the UK to compete with the Owens boats that Clive Curtis and brian Braine prepared (Grey Goose, snow Goose etc)
The best know Glastron was the V-171 Boffins Coffin tht Dad and TC raced and then sold it to Keith Horseman who repowered it with Mercury 100's. Peter Ramage used to naviate with Keith driving. Dad continued to race with Maurice G Hardy who had a V174 with Volvo sterndrive fitted. this bagan a long partendership with Dad navigating on Don Shead designed/Souter built Wicked Lady, Shady Lady. Fast Lady (Huntsman 28) and then Telstar.
Boat Showrooms has a workshop in Ealing where race boats and all customer boats were rigged ( Florence Road) Len Russel used to work there along with Jack Lusted, Bill Webb ( owners f Jersey Cow) Peter Webb and Dave Ward wit Tim Curtis as workshop manager. We used to have Glastron V 143's powered by merc 50 ( my first powerboat race in 1967 Solent 70) and we had a V143 called Flaming Fleming with a 6 cylinder mercury 70hp. others were Guy Renwick's Wet Bob , a V171 which replaced their Ice Dicer which was written off in a car crash. Guy went on to race a V163 with twin 90's on it and I navigated that boat with him for 1 race in the Cornish 100. Guy went on to build the outboard melodrama, a outboard powered sistership to Telstar. those were the days......
