rib consoles?

Apply PVA release with a small sponge and very thinly. It should dry in a short time to a shiny finish. The disadvantage is that it's another step and dust can easily settle on it and adhere. Wiping over it is dodgy.
It should be used on top of the wax polish.
If done properly the finish will be difficult to tell from a plain waxing/polishing. There is a difference but you'd need to look hard.

remember this is a rib owner boyz! finish isn't high on their agenda!

I can't imagine EVER getting a good finish with sommat you wipe on and let dry, and cannot polish to a high finish.

I've seen the finish you get from PVA release agent, and it don't look nuthin like a good quality moulding, from a good quality mould, using a good quality release wax, applied using some good quality elbow grease.

And if all ofthe above are used, the biggest problem is 'pre-release', not, 'sticking'.

The words 'gleam, high finish, shiney' etc, don't mix with words like RIB, toob, and 'Bowie Knife'! :D

It's very good for releasing non slip surfaces though!

Oi, you are a cruel man Mr Fuller. Do you know what it's like for a ribnobber to come over here and ask for advice?

Very good, that pic describes exactly how I felt when I first joined RIBnet 2-1/2 years ago, and posted, saying 'ribs are silly' :speechles

Things could be worse, you could be a chaudron or a falcon owner. :D

It must have been a great loss when you left the Diplomatic Corp:laugh:

Anyway, here's my ride. High quality & not a rough edge in sight.
She is at ??????? if you can bear to look at close look at a toobed boat.

Ah, so that's yours!...I saw it the other day when I was down there, very nice! (did I just say that?)

Not mine I'm afraid, Martin owns it - I just hitch a ride and contribute to the fuel.

Can't afford a boat at the moment. See signature.

Oh and yes you did say that! There is probably still time to edit though.

Talking of which, I hope I'm not speaking out of turn but you may want to consider editing your post Ian. You never know who is reading this (or any other) forum and they might be on the look out for a nice big engine or worse! :aaahhh: We try hard to keep the location of our boat out of the public domain - better safe than sorry!

Jw , it doesnt have to be used on top of wax! infact its worse if you do that, it orange peels. If you spray the PVA onto any surface, including wood, a couple of coats and it releases great.

If you have a method of getting PVA to look as good as wax finish then bottle yr idea and sell it!!!!! Cos i never seen a good finish from PVA. ..............

:D
