I am not that new to boating but with no sort of training and sheer ignorance is bliss factor I have no idea of a lot of the terms used by people who know what they are doing!
I think this webshite should have a glossary of terms for people without a clue.
What do people mean when they say "The boat hooked" ?? Say What now?

It means literally that! The boat lands funny and does a ninety degree turn near enough on the spot at speed! And normally hurts!

Yeap there the best! been there and got the badge!:bang:

Anyway got a phantom hull for sale....?

You'll be alrite! Marshans are abit of a handful but you'll get used to it eventually! There a very "stuffy" boat but aslong as your aware of that its half the battle!

I think the problem with them is the design of the hull at the arse end. With it being so flat at the back it must create a lot of lift at the rear pushing the bow down. I think I may have a bit more cupping on the prop to give it a bit more bow lift.
I was thinking of buying a Seaquel hull new as they are not that much more expensive then buying a used phantom hull.

The props got alot to do with it! like you say its the hull design and the fact that the beam isnt very wide!

whats the beam? Is it the overall width of the boat or what?

Yeah it the overall width of the boat/hull!

how much wider is a phantom hull then?

I think its prob a good foot or so! But its the hull design on a phantom that makes a big difference to! Its got a deeper v!

Especially a Marshan Hook!

I actually reckon the Ring design has the highest tendency to hooking, if provoked.

The Marshans are ok.

Phantoms, Rings, Marshans, ect, ect,ect will all hook at a certain point given a certain driving style. This is where you know you boat & it's likes & dislikes along with it limits. It's just a caser of getting the hang of your particular boat. Make no mistake if & when it hooks just make sure your hanging on the boat will go round the corner. I just a case where you will end up !.
I had the steering break on lazy Sunday morning whilt flat out. The boat went round fine, shite did it turn. I on the otherhand went across the bloody thing and ended up down the side of the co-drivers seat.

You really dont like the Ring do you Jon! Phantom through and through! Have you ever raced a phantom for any length of time Jon?

Is it taking off that cause a boat to hook? If I know the cause then it may help from killing myself this saturday!

It's not taking off .......................................... it's the landing! :bolt:

As it is impossible to control a boat once it has taken off then this means it is impossible to control the landing hence it must be the way the boat takes off that determines how it lands back into the water.
