I know you lot love airing your opinions so here is another chance!

Can’t persuade my friend to buy a Ring or Phantom he wants something smaller for his 1st boat. He has stumbled across a Simms Super V.

Any good? The yard reckons it and the engine on 12 to 13 years old can this be verified by serial numbers? What speed would you expect to get from it? Are parts easy to come by for the mercury 60HP of that age?

Comments on hull / engine type performance appreciated :D

Is this the boat used in 007 Live and Let Die ?

No, 007 had a Glastron GT (150???)

thats quite a late simms, with a whimpering little merc.............I cant get all that excited about a super V.....but a couple of fellas got an identical pair of 16's with 100 mariners at my ski club in 1992ish and they drove the hell out of'm!

for that kinda money, go Fletcher 140, 147 (much nicer), 155GTO.
I'm convinced they are better boats.

I sold my '86 160 Fletcher with a V4 Johnson for noit much more than that!

Those super vee's have the fugliest deck form I've ever seen.

Thanks capatin will pass on the comments they dont handle then?

What speed ? I said about 35mph?

I dont know how they handle...........I have actually been in, one, many moons back when Michael Jackson was a proud Black man!

What i can say is that thos 16's where very bouncy. And agreed, they are ugly!

I had a 60 merc on a driver 440 copy.........After little consideration, i can conclude its the shitest most guttles lump of crapo i ever owned.

Tell ya mate for £2500 he should me looking at a 10-15 yr old 155 GTO with a 75-90 merc, or even better a 70 OMC or even better an 80/85/90 Yammie.

Job done:D

I have to say I agree with u! From what I remeber about the 60HP Mercury it wasnt exactly a performance motor compared to the Yamahas will send hime the link to the posts.

There was a sweet little glastron, GT 150, on ebay a few weeks ago for something like 150 quid...
Check, it might be relisted!

IMHO, most of these old boats are only the price they are cus they are complete outfits, if you can get yrself half decent boat less engine then you would be better off buying an engine seperately, end result, a better setup for your money and probably a damn sight more reliable........

just my opinion of couse.......
