Hello again,

I'm due to put my new (well newer) 90hp Mercury on my 14" Fletcher GTO soon however i want to strengthen the transom with a stainless steel plate that the engine can bolt through.

Has anyone done this already and if so how thick was the steel?
Also does anyone know of a place that can make these up?

Ideally i'd like one that covers the transom and then goes up and over the well so that it can be bolted from either side (if that makes sense?)

Cheers

I have just made one for my boat. 5mm thickness. I will send some pics if you give me a mail address.

I can also supply

Does it go up and over the transom and into the well?
How much will one cost me roughly?
Pics would be appreciated:

Hi Grant,
I can make one of these for you if you can give me the size you want. Its ups to you you can either have a flat plate, or I can you one that will fit into the well.

I will require one that goes up and over into the well, I'll have a measure up tonight.
Any idea on the cost?

Grant,
Cost would depend on size/thk I would guess you`ll be looking at around 3-4mm thk?. PM the sizes and I`ll work something out for you. (IMHO) You should go for mirror polished, looks a lot better.

No problems mate. I will send some pics in a minute

In stainless 3mm is plenty thick enough any more than that and your just adding unnecassary weight. I have one of Cyco's 3mm mirror polished plates and its well tasty!!!

5mm:aaahhh:

way too thick for a 14' er, 2 or 3 is ample.........

We also fabricate marine and race wear including aluminum and stainless tanks, also starting a new line in standard and custom built trailers.

5mm is spot on running 2 x Efi

Will have a talk sometime about trailers - may need some for our RIBs. 6.5M stepped hull - have been using mainly single axle trailers so far.

Let me know if you have any details.
