steering play

When i got scrutineered yesterday the scrutineer told me that ishouldnt have as play as i do in my steering at the engine! Its twin cable with an "anti snatch" helm! Ive run this on the last two boats ive had and they've both had the same amount of play! I thought it was normal but is there a way of getting rid of it?

check for wear at the head & in the racks, shim as required, check the connecting arms/rods also & shim to remove, cables & racks do wear.

Its all six weeks old! Wot do you shim? I thought my helm was a sealed unit? The second steerer tube is adjustable?

No its teleflex! Got any ideas? I think it supposed to be like it coz of the anti snatch helm!

Sorry mate dont know diddle squat about thoose, But my opion of Teleflex has been it's always got a little to much play in it for serious comp use. They have a pretty good web site see what support they can offer. But I'm sure there are a few here who could chip in some tweeks. sorry I couldn't help more.

I got it wrong! Ive just had a look and its ultraflex twin cable non feedback system! Anyone got any ideas?
