Hi all.

I’m searching for the equivalent of Hens teeth again.

I’m in the middle of putting a 1999 Suzuki 200HP EFI on the back of my Ocean.

However the engine came with a surface mounted control unit that I want to use as it has a better action than my current cheapo quicksilver surface mounted one.
Unfortunately the unit is missing its Plastic cover, which doesn’t affect the way it works, it just looks unfinished.
I’ve made a cover up from sheet steel bent to shape and spot welded that looks better than it should but the proper one would obviously look better.

The cover is not available separately, and I’ve tried all the usual places with no luck.

Anyone have one hanging around in the shed? Don’t mind buying a whole unit or even one where the plastic needs some work to bring up to scratch.

Failing all else, does anyone have one I can take a mould off?

Cheers

Lots of that kind of stuff at boat jumbles, definately remember seeing suzuki, chrysler, all sorts at the last one (when I wasn't stuffing my face with doughnuts, that is)

Hi, had a good search around Netley/Southampton jumble the other week but didn’t find anything, It’s probably my best option I agree, but I’m an impatient sod and want one now.
It’s a shame because the unit itself has never been used, so has a really good smooth action. There’s no doubt that the genuine equipment units are so much better than the cheap generic jobs.

Much as I hate to ever, ever, recommend them for anything, have you tried pacer marine? They sometimes have a pile of used sfuff around.

Failing that, I think Adam is a suzuki agent, he might be able to help, or point you at someone who can.

Pacer have been very helpful with bits and pieces up to now, I use them as they are only a short detour on my way home from work.

However there was a different guy on spares today, and didn't do very well. Different attitude etc and let the workshop guys use the bits I left work early to collect before I got there. Ended up doing a massive detour and called into the outboard centre in Fareham who were as helpful as ever.

The usual guy at Pacer tried very hard the other day and sorted a few different plastic covers for me to try but with no luck.

I will admit, on occasion I have been well impressed by them, most notably I wanted to buy a lifejacket for my mates toddler once, and they stocked nothing even close in size. I happened to be in there a couple of weeks later, and they'd bought in a whole range of child sizes.

But every time I order a merc bit, there's always hassle, they never phone me back, and I've waited 2 months before for a part that barrus had in stock, in the UK, for it to finally not arrive. I ordered it from the states in the end, got it in 7 days.
