Trim tabs

Looking at them I would suspect a 21' Phantom pushed hard would break em!
Its a charged nitrogen gas strut, top up/servicing you would need a HP Nitrogen source & regulator & charging Kit. see if those are available in your area first . A regulator & small bottle in the UK is about £300.00 you would still need a charging adapter/ Kit

Not worth the hassle i guess ;)

smarttabs

we have been selling smarttabs for 18 months and have yet to see a strut fail cost incidentally is £120.00 + vat for a set of tabs. recharging is not an option, the struts are available should you manage to break one or want to upgrade to higher poundage:)

From a person who has them, I've been told they work well on a smallish boat but, apparently, you have to gun it in a following sea to get the bow up. No personal experience of them.

Streamline did you used to be in Ash about 15- 20 years ago?

I spoke to you a couple of years ago - just after you'd had all your props stolen I think. Did you ever manage to recover any of them?

trim tabs

Have keikhaffer tabs on P23 with 300 promax - tabs have stopped functioning. Fuse blown - replaced fuse and just blows again.
Each tab has its own switch and its own pump - where's best place to start to identify fault ?

I would think you have a seized motor.

Are they 110S's (motor/pump mounted directly on the transom/tab, inside boat) or do they have flexi hoses to the pumps?

A continutity tester will only work if you disconect the motor and solenoids and buzz the loom and switches out seperatly. If you dont you will see the winding resistances of the motor and solenoids and may well become confused. :)

Thanks, will look more closely at motor type this w/end. Motors are mounted inside on transom directly above tabs.
Can motors be re-wound cost effectively ?

Anything can be re wound, but these days it seems to be cheaper just to buy a new motor

OK
Checked out actual units this w/e.
No hydraulic pipes on these - pump & motor located inside of transom directly behind tabs -
Written on motor -
Keikaefer Brunswick marine - Hi Performance-Wisconsin
Serial No 68585
12v DC
SAEJ 1171 Marine
10-30 or 10-40 motor oil

Nothing else written on them.

Boat has only 110 hrs use in 5 yrs and tabs will hardly have been used - is that the problem or should this higher quality system be ok with such little use.
Any suggestions for cheap source ?

I removed blown 20 amp fuse for these tabs and havent replaced it yet - noticed battery was struggling to turn over engine although starts immediately - is that connected to removal of fuse ?

Rgds

Any suggestions as to a good cheap source if I need to replace the starter ?
Will engine serial no. identify starter or may there be one of several options for any serial no ?
