Have you had one of those chain mails suggesting that you avoid two Global petrol companies, in this country, until the price of a litre comes down to about 69p?

If, the cost of a barrel of raw crude is stablilised the world over,

whats happenin?

Do they just make more profit out of us here than anywhere else.:flame:

Or are we simply taxed to death on the stuff here and the petrol co's are being just as reasonable here, as anywhere else.:jaw:

Taxed to death!!!

But the oil companies are making a stack of money too. BP made a profit of £9,000,000,000 last year.

Had one this morning - We use about 1.75 litres a mile in the race boat so it hurts our race budget if the prices go up!

Not even feckin close! - From outrageously expensive to I think I might have to get a job!

Here in Malta it is very expensive for our small wages too!

We pay about 40c per litre which is about 63p english. It's about the same considering that wages are higher in england.

Prices are on the increase here too - Governments are always blaming international markets and stuff but they are only collecting more money in other forms of taxes. I bet it's the case in the Uk as well.

we get ripped off on everthing and taxation is becomming a massive issue, something I fear will get worse and worse as our country becomes the soft touch of europe!!
makes you wonder if its really worth put the extra graft in.... Florida the place for me!! Boat heaven and low taxes!!

Dont know what you lot are moaning about I pay 112.5p a litre!

A litre of what Avgas

£1.12 would still be expensive for 100LL
should be around £1.00-£1.05

C'mon then P19, wot motion lotion ya talking abart?

Profit vs. TAX

I take it that was that the group profit globally!

I still wonder (as yer do) if the oil Co's make signifacantly less in the UK because of the 80% tax on the juice.

Or whether they disregard the tax and just stack their profit on the top regardless.

This price watch stuff from Esso, wasnt it just a way of ensuring they were on target for pricing. Price fixing without the conventional cartel?

For some time now we have seen very very close pricing at the pumps.

Is it really a competative or cooperative pricing structure?

Always makes me laugh when I read their great promise, which goes something like "we will try to make sure our prices are amongst the lowest in the area"

Doesn't exactly show 100% commitment!

112.5p for unleaded petrol. That was last time I looked probably gone up since; I live in the Isles of Scilly which has it`s drawbacks.

I did a bit of research into a thing called the fuel maker.

It was a high pressure pump that would put enough Natural gas under pressure in a tank in the car to give you a range of 90 miles.

I thought I could short cut the gas meter and get motoring for free but British gas have the service rights to the sulzer pumps and the thing shuts down after 500 hours! It was cheaper even if you paid the duty on the Gas!
