If you could build a V24 to whatever specs you wanted, what motor/drive package would you run? Looking for reliability over all out speed. 75mph is all that is needed but would consider something faster if reliability isn't hindered.

Ilmor bravo package

v24

if its not the normal package then its not a v24!

If all you want is 75 mph why would you change it from what it is now?

Don't have one now but might look for one in the near future... Figured if there was anything wrong with the current setups you guys would know what should be changed. Not worth looking beyond the Volvo 5.7s?

v24

your problem would be if you put a different engine package then it would not pass v24 rules, then the problem is as a boat the canopy does not conform to 508 rules,so you have to stick to what rules say.

My theory would be....
If I was going to try going faster across the same sort of seas a V24 will in its present form i would be thinking more length with the additional BHP. That then takes you upto B28's. Don't forget that the running surface of a V24 is still only 23ft. The same as a B23. The extra 1ft length is measured in the overhang over the drive that the fin sits on I believe.
I reckon a V24 that did a genuine 80mph average speed would be good fun but you'd have to start driving it in the rough stuff coz it would start being abit short every now and then!

My little island has different rules than what you guys run... RHINO you know all about this! B23

And the more you drive it hard in the rough the more the hull will suffer!

Being the dealer for Vector, we have the moulds for the B28, not only for the current leisure version but also the original race deck, all boat builds are monitored by Ocke Mannerfelt himself. We are looking at making a modern canopy version next year, once I have sold my current boat. If you are after a new V24, I know of a brand new Un-rigged hull, I would happy to introduce you.

The hull I am relating to is not in the UK and not the one you are relating to. I have written confirmation and a price from the owner of what he wants for it. If you would more information PM me.

There was one in Norway running a big block and bravo one:

The V-24 could use some more power in the flat i totally agree on that.

But in the rough it does great with the power it has and the DPX is really superior there as well. Going any faster in the rough rough then what is actually possible with the GXI/DPX would be a disaster for both man and machine.

And keep in mind, that the boats where not intend to run much faster then 75 mph if you consider then strength of the canopy, that is Ockes own words.

A Merc 377 / Bravo would do the job for you, would probably run 82-85 mph if setup right.

Anyway you would like to look over the canopy strength either way, Merc/Ilmor or what ever.
