Not difficult, but requires some commitment to learning the chosen method... Mrs Nobs put aside two full days and completed most of the bare bones to our site, then spent a few more populating it with photos and content. Part of the first two days involved getting to grips with the basics of Front Page, and then ditching it in favour of writing raw HTML using just notepad. We have a couple of good books - can let you know titles etc if you like when we're back home.

Speak nicely to Mrs Nobs or Matt and they might just help you out. Alternatively, if you're considering others, look at their work and see if you like it

Like most things, you generally get what you pay for! Probably the most important thing to do is establish an understanding of what you want... eg. do a search on sharter companies and see which one you like.

Not to get all serious and stuff but Jonny could not be more right. Your target market will be getting sick over your boat and generally destroying it.

I was involved in the charter/corporate entertainment business for a time and we had many enquiries for lads weekends/stag parties etc. The custom was politely refused as my co-directors and I felt that large quanitities of alcohol and fast/fastish boats should remain mutually exclusive. We included the following in our booking form and 'terms and conditions.'

"We reserve the right to prevent your participation in the activity on the day if your behaviour is not felt to be reasonable or responsible or we have reasonable grounds to consider that you are unfit to participate for reasons of health or consumption of alcohol and/or drugs."

Please forgive me if the following questions seem rude or offensive as that is not the intention but they are the questions that a High Court judge would want answered following an incident:

Did the charter skipper have the proper qualifications?

Was the boat coded to MCA spec. for it size, type and intended usage ?

Was the skipper operating the vessel in an appropriate manner given all the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Why did the skipper allow alcoholic comsumption commensurate with a 'stag party' to take place upon a fast moving open vessel operating on the open sea when the potential for disaster would have been obvious to the man on the Clapham Omnibus?

I'm really not trying to rain on your parade. If I seem at all negative it's only because one of my co-directors from a former company was a solicitor and I did a post-grad degree in law so I naturally look very closely at the legal implications of any venture. The charter business can be a good one but to actively seek out clients that could provide the biggest potential problems seems to me not the way to go.

I did 3 years of chartering with Powerwaves with my Sunseeker Portofino, and their policy was to allow NO consumption of alcohol on board the vessel, and very limited drinking during the lunchstop.

They didn't even allow the guests to use the cabin, or the toilet!

I would think the last thing you would want on your boat is a "stag party", a load of drunken fools clambering all over your upholstery isn't my idea of a good days boating.

And as for coding, it cost me around £5k to get my vessel to meet the regs, and that was 10 years ago!

mmm.... I have been on 2 stag do's on charter boats, 12-14 lads (2 ladies!) 2 30-40ft boats...
Both times we had great fun, some drinks and entertainment...
no one got pissed, sick or wrecked anything....
it was £120 for 5 hours boating each, incl food and drink...

you dont see stag parties going to the go karting or paint balling in the afternoon and getting pissed up and puking !!
that normally comes after 6pm

i think this would be aimed at the more respectable parties... not drunken yobs...
any bad behaviour and they would be off, losing their money..
