From what I understand, the boat are hydroplanes powered by 500cc outboards.

Not sure how the record rules work, but the UIM site lists the world record for this class at over 126 mph. Perhaps the old record was 'frozen'.

Yep and O means unlimited so motor preparation is totally open.

They're not conventional outboards as we know them with such brands as Koenig or Yamato Race engines. :

Ta for posting website link. Brought back happy memories of going to watch the Battle of Britain meeting every year as a kid. I reckoin you've gotta be feckin nuts to race one of those hydroplaney things:hatchet:
