Turbines mainly!
Anyone got a cheap xr2 powerhead or any other cheap V6 based powerhead for sale? It can be missing bits if needs be, I've got one here but one cylinder is bad.

Cheers, James

There is a 200 Pro Max up on ebay cant find the link at the mo, was about 1500 last I saw of it

Cheers for the link, looks mighty cheap to me considering it's got a sporty as well, to the point it rings alarm bells... Bit more than i wanna spend really too.
Thanks though, I'll keep it as a possible option!

Cheers, James

Just sold my 2.4 litre powerhead yesterday but i do have a 2 litre F1 block which is a 7 pedal reed block, pistons and rods for sale. The bores are good and no holes or welding on block.

Seller wants £2800 for engine and it came off one of Dodgydans boats, a blue Shakespeare.

There you go Larby, at least you will know its "service" history...

Ha ha ha, well that explains why it's so cheap then!! Funny how it came off the shakespear seeing as he told me the engine it came with was the one that was always on it!!
Think I'll wipe that one off the options list then!

Is it built up or needing building? Could you PM me details and price please

Nothing good so far, the F1 needs building and I wouldn't touch the promax.

Someone must have something knocking around? A bridgeport would be great?? Any V6 would do though!

Cheers, Have just sent him one now. Is there any way to extend the life of an F1 engine? I don't fancy rebuilding it too often! Could i put on lower compression heads?

James

Purely because that looks like it's all that's available, and i don't have a large budget to spend at all on this build. I appreciate I'm not likely to get something really reliable for that kinda money, it's just a case of trying to make whatever i do get last as long as possible.
I figured that a F1 motor with xr2 heads would be reasonably strong, whilst still being reasonably powerful?

Wow, that's a steal for the promax. And the fact that Dodgydan owned it makes it even a better deal. His stuff always gets a rebuild before he sells it! It's such a good person! :devilish:

I think that engine will blow before you even touch the key to start her up:down:

Bor - Thanks for the offer but that'd be too much once I've accounted for the shipping to guernsey.

Bigboy -
You're right, I just too the heads off the engine Dan sold me today... I found that it had obviously blown in the past, so he's sanded the bore out and left all the bits of ring in the head!!! No wonder it blew up!!
I'm gonna post some pics for all to see.

Wow I'm realy impressed of the rebuilding capacities of Dodgydan!
Maybe I can better send my block to him for a hone job?:hatchet:

Hang on just a second Taz...

I said i was interested in buying a pair of engines, you were one of the people who got back to me. We chatted about price and the condition of the engines (which i agree, they were in good nic), but we never even got close to agreeing on anything.
As with anyone looking for something, i was also looking at a pair of Yams over here. In the end i decided i was concerned about the reliability of the xr2's, due to my experience with them, and the advice of several ex racers who's opinion i trust completely. The yams, whilst being older engines, had only done 100 hrs each, and the powerheads were in beautiful condition (on the inside!). They also came with all bits needed to rebuild them in the future when i felt it was necessary. They were also nearly half the price of the xr2's, and local, coming from someone i trust and know. (not suggesting you're not trustworthy in any way).
For those reasons i elected to go with the Yams, and i let you know about this decision. I still have every email sent to and from you to show this.
Shortly after that, i recall a mod having to delete a large chunk of my build thread as you went off on one about me deciding to run yams and their suitability for the boat, resulting in a bit of a tiff.

With that in mind, I fail to see where i messed you around? I did what any buyer would do, looked at a few possibilities, and made a decision.
I don't doubt for a second that you're a very nice guy. Had the yams not come up and i'd had more money available i wouldn't have hesitated to buy the xr2's from you, they seem like very good engines. Should the yams not perform, they would be next on my list.
I don't understand why you feel the need to publically deform my character without proof that i've actually done anything wrong.

James
