Anyone got any bits for a late 80's 200 2.6 yamaha?

I'm in the middle of 'restoring' two, the powerheads are like new, the midsections and associated bits aren't. I definately need two new shift rod thingys, I'll need to replace all the trim ram seals and i need to put in new upper engine mount bushes.

That said, i'm interested in any bits, right up to entire midsections, as that would mean less work! It's all a bit daunting as i hadn't realised the mids were in such a bad way

Cheers, James

last i heard you knew of 2 nice yami engines that had been well looked after and were perfect for your boat

If you are offered any cheap working ok trims pumps for a 2.6,
point them my way mine is is playing up,

I do  I'm just being very picky about seals etc as they're now going to be in the water all summer. The most important thing to me is that the powerheads are A1. I intend for the whole outboards to be in virtually 'as new' condition when i'm finished with them, I can't really complain about a few seals and bushes on 20 year old motors!

Will do, I'm going to be speaking to a guy who'll probably have just that so I'll see what he's got.

Buy two new shift rods from Yamaha. The old ones always rotted away especially just above the female splined bit. Yamaha have taken note of this and all replacements supplied now are in stainless steel.

The midsections, trays and trim unit/bracket are the same from 100Hp v4 upwards. The exhaust tuner and intermediate plates differ between models.

Cheers for that, very helpful to know! I will look into the price for a couple of shift rods

I've managed to get the mids apart now, wasn't really as bad as i thought. One trim pump is playing up a bit but i think that's just due to low fluid level, will top up and check tomorrow. Hopefully all i'll need now is the shift rods, a set of ram seals, and a steering tube.

Thanks for all the PM's from people offering bits so far

shift rods were £54 I think when I did my 200 a few years ago.

The steerer tubes are produced in stainless as well now. not sure on price now though.

I shouldve said there are a couple of types of tray / cowling, although they both fit the same leg. First is the much better three manual catch with alloy protruding levers, used on the A models.

Then theres the later rounded off lid and tray with one lever release with internal release cable. They were good when new but with a bit of wear the cowlings have a tendancy to part company from the engine in the rough. yamaha went back to three separate catches of s different design for the last few years of V6 production.

Mine are both the 3 outer catch type, and i've got an entire spare cowling so thats ok!
Seems the shift rods are pretty pricey so i dread to think what it'll cost for the steering tubes! Shame i have to buy 2 of everything! :headbang:

as mentioned will make a list of my Yam spares - made a start but will post details / photos next week.

So far : engine cowling, gearbox casing, middle unit casing, sandwich plates, wing plate for steering, flywheel cover, oil tank & more new gaskets than can list.

All from 220 / 225 Yam

Cool, cheers for that, I'm trying to find out which parts fit my model too!
