YANN CADORET passed away at 64.
Yann Cadoret was the organizer of the 1996 EURO offshore event, which brought together almost 50 boats in all categories. He was the pilot of the SKATER 24 in the 3 D 4litre class, and spoke passionately of the offshore races he had run with his co-driver James Moreau at the European championship in UK, Scotland,Guernsey,Norway, France.
Yann Cadoret's life could have ended against a tree, forty kilometers from La Trinité-sur-Mer (located in Brittany France), in 1981, on his way back from the Fantic factory in Italy. The impact was terrifying.
The Dodge Van withstood the impact, but not Yann. Paraplegic since the accident, when he was just 20, he used to say, humorously, that his feet had often been broken, but not his spirit. He was a warrior at heart, a warrior without aggression, a warrior for himself, to face destiny, without complaining - ever - to face up, standing tall, despite his handicap. As a pilot, he aroused admiration for his insolent talent, his freedom to operate, his ability to shake up codes. Sachs factory rider, then Fantic, official KTM rider on the Dakar, finisher of the Baja 1000 on an HVA 390 with Cyril Neveu and on a Yamaha 465 YZ with Michel Mérel, he juggled bikes and races according to his desires, crunching life, with no career plan other than to be the best, in total freedom, a driving force that would guide him all his life. Nailed to his armchair, it was off-shore and at the wheel of his Mercedes 4X4, on the Dakar and the Amerathon that he made his mark, there again, suffering without showing it, there again, arousing the admiration of all. His life was a struggle, with elegance, generosity and a smile as bright as a life he preferred to end, so as not to run one race too many.
Special thanks for Claude de La Chapelle for the original text
Special thanks for James Moreau, his good friend, copilot, mecanic, for all the support he has given to Yann for more than 3 decades
