Anyone got an iPhone yet?
got one arriving wednesday.
Have to say, from what I've seen, they seem pretty cool.
As a general rule, I don't like to be (or appear) too impressed with Apple products, coz their owner are usually rather smug about them, but I couldn't help myself with this one.
Anyone heard any bad reports about them?

8G aint really enough storage space for the money.
Assume your's won't be genuine UK one on 02 - the crack is closed on later product versions, be very careful not to download any updates for it via itunes or it will be rendered junk.
Other than that - they're very good.

It currently comes as V1.1.1 you have to regress that to V1.0.2, then run the unlock and simfree applications to get it working.
Pat (Dreamboat) has just done one.
collect mine tomorrow, not wednesday.

They're 399 bucks in the US Apple stores, in my case, plus the 6.5% local sales tax, so about 425 bucks 212 quid

There was an article on the iphones in the local paper recently. Apparently there has been a huge demand for them by all the Indian workers in Dubai. This has led to a black market supply of imported iphones that are commanding very high prices here from the fashion concious Ragheads. The sting in the tail is that none of the iphone's features are supported out here by the local telecommunications companies!!!

They're not supported here yet either, and when they are (Nov 9th) it will only be by 02. I heard last week that Orange France will be selling them 'simfree', so that will make things easier if it happens.
There is various sofware hacks at the moment for unlocking the AT&T ones from the US, this is what I'll be doing.
You buy it direct from Apple, and then register it via iTunes with AT&T. rather an odd way of doing things I reckon, so i think Apple have an agenda, knowing how it will go, ensuring huge sales to people who intend running them on alternative provider services whilst getting whatever it is they get from AT&T.
Very clever. If you had to sign up for the AT&T contract 'in store' it wouldn't be possible to do what I've done, so why don't they do it that way?....as I say, hidden agenda I reckon.
They've also reduced the price from 600 bucks, to 400 bucks, which apparently upset a few people.
