F1 Car engine in a boat?
Does anyone know if anyone has ever tried putting a F1 car engine into a powerboat? Just a thought

Just in case you missed it I'll ask you again ................
Just out of interest what is your fast boat experience and what is your connection with the Honda series? I see you posting about trashing Merc's and bigging up Honda but it would be nice to hear what background knowledge you have to base your opinion on - not having a go - just interested?

Didn't circuit racer Jackie Wilson stick a Cosworth in a tunnel hull?

Both Jackie Wilson and another racer named Bill Brown experimented with Cosworth engines in circuit boats back in the 70's. I think Jackie in particular managed to give some of the outboard guys a real run for their money.

In theory the F1 engine would not be suited to powerboats. Road engines typically are not suited.
In a typical car engine you are up and down the rev range using the gears. In a typical boat you are almost always on the top end of the power, and this stresses the engine differently.
You can race a souped up car engine all year, but kill it in a single boat race.

Edwardo Polli spent feckin millions finding that out the hard way, he had 4 in a class one boat. 'SDA' in the early 90's. ran very quick.....for a few laps each race. Don't think it ever won anything. Graham would know, as would PJC.

F1 Engine in a Powerboat
Perhaps it's Mr J May trying to get Lewis Hamilton on board. Anything is possible
