your first boat?
So JF has managed to embarass me somewhat by forcing out of me that back in the seventies I once owned a Plancraft Stingray powered by a 55 Chrysler.
This was my first boat despite having driven other peoples for years up to that point.
It was of course the most awesome piece of machinery as it was mine
So come on JF show us your first baby

One has to remember I was a freshwater boy before getting into the salty stuff, as I was born & bred on the Thames at Shepperton. So, HP was in short supply in my early days, featuring silly little OB's, dinghies etc.
Had a 9' Apollo & 20 Johnson, which was probably my first 'V' bottom!
I have pictures somewhere, but would need substantial payment before posting

1600E Cortina's were like FS1E's, every fkkr had one. No individuality, that's your trouble.....spose you 'moved on' (down) to a Capri didn't you?
One had to be a little individual, even if at the detrement of speed & ability. Can't be a sheep.

Shakespeare
My fisrt boat was a sky blue Shakespeare about 14ft with a 70hp Mercury on it, I was aged 17.
Cable steering, 3 cylinder merc was great fun and cheap boating back then
I think that was one of the most reliable boats I have owned.

Capri? Nothing that celubrious straight on to an Vauxhall Victor estate mate. Column gear change and bench seat in the front so you could have a shag in the front whilst your mates had one too in the back and the boot
So come on you've gone in feet first here, what was the first motor?
My money's on a Morris Minor painted in union jack colours

Ain't that the truth. 3 gallons of four star for about 2 quid, nick your mates oil out of his fizzy and spend the rest of the fiver on tartan bitter.
Cause we couldn't afford waterskiis or the such then, so I was officially the countries first wakeboarder using an upturned table and a lump of rope pinched off a dinghy

mine was a simms super V with an mercury 50...took it out in the rough and put a crack right across the back of it...fixed the next day with plywood and nuts and bolts ...used to pull it with a old bullnose ford transit that needed half a tin of easy start to wake it up in the morning, aye 30 years ago and things are pretty much the same
