Had loads of fun on the Southampton water in this old 21.5? Phantom.
VW marine diesel engine and variable pitch surface drives.

Oh cool, I didn't think they looked like bravos, must've been the angle.
What motors was he running through them? I'm told the bravo drive and transom assy is the same one originally fitted to Lite Relief by Pete (after the TRS that is). That said, he was only running 400ish hp, so what they're rated for.
I'd be interested to see a hp/weight limit for a bravo like with Konrad rather than just a hp figure as obviously boat weight will play a big part. Anyhoo, mustn't thread jack. Back to amazing Phantoms!

I didn't. That was a bit of typically inaccurate reporting by one of the powerboat mags. It was always TD and I in the National races, with Pete Berrow racing the Revenger with either John Burden, or Shelly Jory. (and on the odd occasion, his mate Jason)

i remember one of my dads mates raced one at cowes in the late 80s. i only knew him as bald alan,he had a tyre company in the farnbourgh area. it had twin merc 175s on it,and was towed by a cherokee jeep with a golden eagle on the bonnet(thought it was so cool at the time). his nav gave me blast back from cowes to the camber in portsmouth(alan had had enough and was in the old mans fletcher arrowshaft) scared the shit out of me,i wondered what the grab handles on the floor were for, didnt take long for me to figure out
