Class IIIC Europeans

From the RYA

The 2010 European Championships will be held at Harwich over the weekend of 31 July to 1st August
During the UIM Cominoff (UIM International Offshore Commission) mid term meeting this weekend the RYA applied to host the 2010 round of the Class 3C Continental Championships.
The application was successful and the 2010 European Championships will be held at Harwich over the weekend of 31 July to 1st August.
It is hoped that competitors from all over Europe will attend this International Powerboat Festival.
2008 saw Guernsey host the 2008 World Championships and crown UK World Championship winning team in Roy Smith and Peter Phillipson but 2009 saw Finland’s Marcus Johnsson secured both the European and World Title; so he’ll be the one everyone’s out to beat.
In over 30 years of strong competition in the Class 3C competition the UK has fielded 10 World Championship title winning teams and 9 European Champions. So the UK competitors will be confident in securing the title in home waters.
2009 RYA National Class 3C champion Driver Ian Stirling and navigator Alex Watson will certainly be up for the challenge. Ian who has been racing Powerboats for over 17 years last year finally secured a coveted RYA National Championship title and desires the further glory of a European or World title before he thinks about retiring from the sport.

Jon,
I think the RYA have since modified the statement. Replace Pete Little with Roy Smith and it will read correctly.

Would our XR2 s be allowed ? Don't know if we could handle the calm water over there.

If you come, and it's rough, and you get beat, those words will haunt you forever.

I reckon old beardy needs to hang on to his boat a bit longer.

It is the biggest problem - a lack of affordable (and legal) engines - I could be tempted to race but don't want to buy a new XS200 - got enough boats and engines as it is!

I know that !! but you said you would put it to ORC !! So if you get Dave to do that now and get ORC to agree then it can go to UIM sooner for an answer.

Yep....and it was for the guy who bought the Backdraft..and I said it was fine for the UK Nationals.

UIM and Internationals are a different prospect , but we've got a shout after the decision with the 90.
