Why cant boats have transponders to log them at the mark when they pass. Do it in other sports, My bike one cost me £10.00 The club / Auth supply the readers

His GPS recorded track log would give an indication as to going 'close' to the mark, but obviously not accurate enough to know if it went the right side (especially as the mark could/was probably in the wrong place)

Best way!
I thnk a couple of the Thundercats got a bit close to each other at Torquay - caused a bit of a stir amongst the spectators, as did the incident when one went shooting off the racing line towards the large rock

Mmm. Not great, 2 laps, then the fkkn 'guardian' decided the engine wasn't happy and started shutting things down and we had to limp back home.
I am a fan of engine monitoring etc, but only when it tells ya what the problem is so you can do something about it. In this instance, a literally 5 second fix to plug a connector back in, (it hadn't clicked in) properly and we would have been running again. As it was months of effort from Adam & the guys flew out the window, not to mention the cost.
Torquay is a great venue and lots of excellent, close, racing. Definately somewhere I'd like to return to. Rob Andrews did another excellent job as OOD, and Shirley Simkins did a fantastic job of organising the event as a whole.
It was only marred slightly by delays due to the protests at the end - let's hope they've all been resolved to everyone's statisfaction.
Was good to see many faces I recognised from Cardiff, and lots of new ones, am looking forward to ramsgate in a couple of weeks.

Has there been any change to the results?
I thought richard wasn't saying anything ("he said I'm not saying anything" a lot of times within earshot of me!!) , and that the mark boats didn't record bob or brian rounding one of the marks, so they were DQ'd. They're now protesting to get reinstated saying they did round the mark.

This is where the problem lies the protest is, C2 is saying that the first 2 boats missed out a long lap and apparently the sequence sheets on the mark backs this up. So its all up in the air at the moment. So much so that they didnt present any of the perpetual trophies on the posted results. Watch this space!!!

Matt - This is your perspective - mine is a little different!
Jon - The problem with the Rudes are the saddle - it is'nt anywhere near as strong as the Mercury one! As for the boat and driver - well we're stuck with that combination at the moment - good navigator though!
