No Jon I would never accuse you of being a cheat (without compelling evidence to the contrary), but to use your own words "A really good start to successful racing, would be aspiring to beat the classes above you, not below." take your own advice Jon and step up to the plate.

What exactly were you accusing / suggesting then Martin? pray tell.
As for taking my own advice, I've always given competition my very best, and sometimes my best has been enough to peck at the classes above, usually it hasn't. There has never once been a time when I / we haven't tried to not only win in class, but try our luck against what should be a hopeless goal, the classes above.
The result is, I'm very comfortable that the plate has been firmly trodden, at least to the best of my own limited ability.
However, I fully understand if Team MWA want to continue with their campaign of 'striving for mediocrity' under a barage of embarrasing hype. I actually think it's a game plan that rather suits you.

Jon,
I was accusing you of nothing let alone cheating, but merely suggesting a poll would not be a fair and reasonable reflection of opinion as there are many members on here who 1) wont post an opinion at variance to yours (for various reasons best known to themselves), 2) only read the contributions by those members that do post, 3)or lastly ex-members that did voice an opinion which was in your view detrimental to the sport or indeed bought it into disrepute in your eyes, and I must admit the majority of those ex-members are undesirable to put it bluntly anyway...
I fully commend and applaud your racing accomplishments and as they say “history speaks for itself” – yours does , your hard work in regard to getting this sport from the doldrums’ back into a hopefully thriving exhilarating spectacle is admirable and as you say “the plate has been firmly trodden”
The one thing that I fail to comprehend is why you are so anti this project, or is it just me that you have a disliking for? Is it that I didn’t take your advice and leave the boat well alone. Researching the posts on “The Planatec Project” the P**s taking started on January 7th at 10.38pm following a post from BluFin regarding class M8 and us going at 50knts and has got more vitriolic since then, we are not “Chasing Pots” just (hopefully) achieving a dream.
If “striving for mediocrity” (in your opinion) is getting D2S back into the water and competing again in the Cowes Torquay Cowes then I full embrace mediocrity..
If I/we indulge in a barrage of embarrassing hype (in your opinion) then the result has been worthwhile as without “The embarrassing hype” we would not have re-kindled the boats relationship with its sponsor from days gone bye “Double Two Limited”, we would not have the benefit of having Sarah Donaghue’s experience, and publicity contacts to call upon, and I would not have received messages and emails of support from folk wishing both the team and myself luck with the project let alone some financial support from America.
So Jon can we call a respite in hostilities, agree to differ, and just get on with life in general as I’m sure we both have better and more productive things to be getting on with.
Martin

Dunno about anyone else but I'm getting a sense of sexual tension in the air.
You just know these two are meeting up for secret dogging sessions on hampstead heath or something and the posts here are just a cover

strapline
If I were you Martin, I would have the below sign written on the boat.
"Striving for mediocrity' under a barage of embarrasing hype"
People pay big bucks for quality straplines like that!

Sounds pretty accusing to me. "Votes would be counted by you" Sounds to me like an accusation that I'd fiddle the results!
Maybe we need a poll to see what the public think about this too.

And which way would you 'swing'?
A) 'Yes, I think that post has an accusing tone'. ...or
B) 'No, I didn't for one second think Martin was suggesting you would alter the results to your own end.'

Ha! Reminds me of the Conservative Chappy standing next to my Village Hall this morning!
On this vote - I will put an x in the box for Fuller, having read all posts.

Jon,
I offered an olive branch...
"Votes would be counted by you" is a statement of fact not an accusation. That you would "fiddle the results" is a total figment and can only be construed as paranoiacs response, Jon If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

Trust me Martin, Fuller does not do olive branches.
He still hates me from C******* posts 3 years ago!
Just enjoy rigging /finishing / and racing your boat -and fingers crossed we can all have a cold glass at the RYS Prize Giving.
(Don't forget to take £300 cash with you. It cost Richard Carr that much to get a taxi back last year)

No it's not. A poll on the forum is an automated system within VBulletin, I don't touch it, or count it.
Black Helicopter anyone?
'Decency'...righto. Maybe you should try to muster the courage of your conviction instead of back peddeling. I know what you meant, you know what you meant, and everyone else knows what you meant.
Olive branches..ha ha.
