I have driven for Cye, he is a very very good skier, with no doubt 2009 on his mind.

Cheers Bazza.
Yes I would certainly agree that the race is a team event and any weak link when competing at top level will certainly show.
The obersver has to be the most important role as you have stated and an experienced good observer can save alot of greif and time whilst racing.
After skiing for around seven years now I would have prefered to ski with an experienced crew so that I can concentrate on skiing, but Burty and Carl are local and willing, to be fair altho Carl is not experienced he is not doing to bad for his first season.......just would have been alot easier with an experienced observer.
Burnham was lost due to the crew making mistakes, Weston was lost due to the crew again making mistakes altho Weston would have been very close racing.
Still I did say to the crew that it would take a few races to get back up to speed, I would say that we are there now (speed wise) just don't need any more mistakes!!!!
Jon it was amazing how many people commented on how Apache appeared to be airborne for most of the race, even Carl's Nan who knows nothing about boats made a comment.
This could be down to the fact that we were going faster than most with a small hull or that Burtys style of driving needs a little tayloring, saying that I would not have wanted to drive a boat myself through that lot (but thats why I am the skiier).
