Weymouth Rally
To all the boats coming to the Cowes Rally (and any others!)...
Talking to our fantastic COPC Club Secretary John Iddon yesterday, he says that entries for the Weymouth Rally in September are just not coming-in...
At the present time it looks as though this event will have to be cancelled. We have to know soon...
If you are considering supporting this event PLEASE CONTACT JOHN A.S.A.P!
It would be a great shame to cancel as we'll be letting-down the Weymouth club and UKOBA... not forgetting John's efforts to pull this all together.
PLEASE SUPPORT US IF YOU POSSIBLY CAN
Thanks, ian

COPC Newsletter
p.s. John also asked if anyone has any copy / pictures / news / tiniest snippets for the club newsletter could he have something / anything?!
I appreciate that everyone's frantically busy, but if you want a club, we need to put our heads above the parapet every so-often and inform people!
Avast behind! ..ian

I think there is two diary clashes with the Weymouth Rally that will be keeping people away, Goodwood Revival and the Fairey Owners Club 25th bash in Cowes.
Understand you have hitched a ride? Let us know if you want dinner tickets.
For the Cowes classic we have a few more entires, I'm keeping quiet on the numbers until the cheques are banked but its looking good!

Summed up in a couple off posts here.
Catweazle showing his passion for the history of the race and its start,I appluad.
Martin putting across the reasons why it can not, I applaud. But was interesting that he quotes 'some 'voices' within "officialdom" deemed it better to "play safe" '.
Then Ciao , we must move on , and by the way we have 3 sponsors for our evening functions!!
Move over everyone, the general viewing public are of no importance in the successful running of our weekend of racing.
ps Did anyone see the start of this years Round the Island Race, lost count how many crashes at the start, one rule for one, another rule for the others I think!!!

I hear your disappointment and agree with you on many points. I also agree that we're lucky to have a race at all these days. The blame lies with Health and Safety and the fear of repercussions if it goes pear shaped. From what I understand the RYA stipulated certain criteria which through much effort by the organisors, was achieved - only to have the goal posts moved or more stipulations piled on thereafter. How sad that even when the big players in the Solent area state that they are happy for the event to start in the traditional way, that the RYA dictate otherwise. My 0.02 cents worth, now back to the classic rally!

Classic Rally
It had been hoped that a major star from the past would have made it to the Classic Rally, I had not made mention of it before but this morning I had an email to say that the restoration of TRAMONTANA 2 is 2 months behind and Wolter apologises but they will not be able to bring her over.
They have just finished installing 1000 litre fuel tank which has taken 10 days and she is yet to receive final painting...sorry folks it looks like next year before we see her but think on this she will be celebrating her 50th...

Back in water after twenty years
Launched the Delta 25 for engine trial today after 20 odd years ashore. Ran well apart from one manifold running hotter than the other and covering the drive and stern in black exhaust. Chrysler Marine 318 in her with carter AFB carb. So looking good for Classic Rally. Any ideas on uneven manifold temp?

Excellent stuff!
Those Levi hulls go like stink compared to my trench digger.
We now have 20 boats coming to the rally plus still a few more that might make it.
Everyone keep your fingers crossed for the weather.

Thanks for the list - what a great selection of race boats from the 60's & 70's !
Will be great to see your fleet at Cowes.
I remember Laksfors III (For one) when she was at Cowes first time round !
Are you going to line up as a "guard of honour" as the present-day racers depart off the RYS ?
Even better, a similar line-up at the finish !
Thanks for the hard work in getting so many to commit to attend & of course to the owners & restorers too !

Hi All,
Just a quick hello to all of you Cowes Classic supporters.
I have just bought 'White Egret' a Levi Triana 25.
She has recently been shipped from Guernsey to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight (Her new home port).
Unfortunately due to my youngest daughter getting married on the Saturday,
(How inconsiderate) I will not be able to attend with the boat this year, but will try to get to Cowes on Monday morning to meet any of you that are still in the Haven.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very successful weekend.
Keep up the good work.
Can't wait for 2012.
Barry
