Info I have been given is that it is quite a 'tired' boat, and was not a good idea. Also something about it being ruined by adding a deck or something?
But - it handled well at 100mph, it should handle OK at 60mph!
But cats are a different animal - you should invest in the advice of a marine engineer who actually drove it in record attempts, races etc...
There is one who lurks on Boatmad....

Hey - I dont have much of a clue either.
It is aparently old for a race boat, and has had several modifications / rebuilds that may not have been up to the original high standards....
It used to be a very very fast boat, and holds some world/british records ( at least the hull does )

Martin,
just in case you didn't think to look up the history, see here

So would seem to be a mix of parts. Ply hulls so be prepared for a bit of maintenance.
Where did the phantom bit come from in the description? And how long has the latest owner had her?
Maybe Gav could look her over, it seems closer to his end of the country, whatever I would definately get someone to look her over, you don't need any more toys round the world that you can't use
Be lucky buddy

fck me, Jonny Bluefinn must have been ill or have taken a disliking to you!............... ONLY 45 mins!
Sorry, I have to give someone else gassbag abuse when I can........... best of luck with the cat. If it makes any difference to you, I think i recognise the motor as one of a pair that came from the states, until recently had next to feck all use!

I know this boat quite well and can say there was no rot and no damage when I last so it about a year ago Last time I so it it was a bare hull so can't comment on the rigging.

Went up to see the boat today and she's in good nick, could'nt find any rot, the transom bracket that broke yesterday is being replaced before I take her and the break was not that bad just a weld that had gone, but the guy is getting a new bracket fitted.
So it looks like we have done a deal, as I said had a good root around in the sponsons and the stern and could find nothing suspect so that will do for me. It may be a tired old race boat but with some tender love and care it should give us a couple of years of fun.
thanks again guys for all of your help and advice.
Martin
