Does anyone know this Ring?

Seems pretty good for the price, does anyone know anything about it?

I do not know the boat but the picture is dated 2005!
Personally i would not run an XR2 on a pleasure boat.
What age was the hull?
There are generally lots of ring/Phantom's around with 200hp v6's for that money or less..
Insist on a sea trial if keen.

It says 19/8/2009 unless I'm missing something...
The guy has e-mailed me a few more pics all with the same date on, it looks like a very clean tidy boat. I was a bit wary of the XR2 myself, but one of my best mates is an outboard engineer at the local yamaha dealers so servicing wouldn't really be a problem

Pics were taken last week!
Boat is now sold.
Reason it sold so quick is because there arent many GOOD CLEAN ones about for that money!
Cheers

a lot of pics show a false date due to the settings inside cam so its never a sure fire way of determing when a pic was taken...ime also intrested on what basis you reckon a XR2 is not a suitable motor for a pleasure boat namely a "ring" which is a fast boat and imho is idealy suited for an XR2

I'd guess he's referring to the reliability of an xr2. Whilst i don't deny that many people manage to run these as great pleasure motors, i know several more who have had them pop on them!
The way i look at it, it's a race engine designed to extract as much hp as possible from 2 litres, to fit class rules. If you're not racing in 2 litre, why restrict yourself? The same hp, with more torque can be obtained from a 2.4/2.5 pleasure motor with far less strain being put on the engine, thus giving a more reliable package.
Just my opinion.

Fuel consumption on an XR2 is pitiful compared to modern motors as well!

mines for sale with a 3.3L evinrude 200HO (2003) a true 65mph+ boat with a completely renovated trailer, new rear seats, new automatic bilge pump+pipe+float etc, just spend £250 on gel repair (a cleat was pulled out of the bow, it's all been done properly)
full hydraulic steering, new anodes, new trim rams, All 100% and doesn't drink fuel like an XR2.
Separate oil tank so doesn't drink loads of expensive oil or stink up the marina.
Engine on Gill bracket so you've got a sun bed with a large locker under it.
stainless 25pitch 3 blade prop
If interested please let me know

I saw this boat at the first poker run and can say it is really nice! Would be a good investment especially if you were looking to race next year

Ring 21
Hi Paul
Richard's (Iain on here) Ring 21 for sale is an awesome rig mate.
Really good reliable new motor on a lovely hull in good condition, very good looking boat.
it would be very competitive in the races and with the back seat also makes a perfect pleasure boat to take the mrs over to Herm for Dinner!
i highly reccomend this boat
Jacques
