It's no secret that Drivers Wharf and surrounding area is earmarked for development at some stage, however, the general consensus is that there's at least 5 years, probably closer to 10, before the area tween Northam bridge & saxon wharf will be 'ripe'.
The site next door to drivers dry berthing, has just been taken over by southampton dry-stack, presumebly on at least a 5 year lease, and the yard next to that, is also a privately owned yard, with a thriving business that depends on it's waterfront deep access for it's transport. As I understand it, they're not about to sell up anytime soon.
In short, to the best of my knowledge, there's no need to worry for a good while yet!
