They are all out of the same moulds, and the only difference is that the second two are a little lighter as they don't have XR2's hanging off the back. The BananaShark layup ones are more stiff, and the feedback is that they are nicer / faster to drive. The moulds are coming up from Cornwall again for a bit more work soon!
Yes but the Banana Shark build is about 70kg lighter then a Barsh/ Banana Shark laid to original SB spec . Is it not !!! because Grahams was 70 kg lighter than my BS Baker original.

Kind of depends on what you deem to be standard and how you define lightweight !! There were several original Lightweights particularly when we were running 2 litre was'nt there Brian, Gary etc.

So, as they're Better, Stiffer and Faster than a Baker boat, I take it Nick Barsch has specified the 'shark' version of build for the new ones you're about to do (and all subsequent builds)?

And lastly, how do you measure 'stiffness' and what percentage stiffer are they?

You can weigh Brians nippon boat mr Perry owns it now..... I think it was gary's engine that made the difference. A standard grp build on p19 should be around +- 10kg bare boat 170kg

I don't think rubber makes a blind bit of difference to Cookies boat, It may look a bit unstable and fragile but ,MY GOD !!! that is a seriously strong build and doing 70 with a fat ba$tard like me in the back it felt indestructable and SAFE !! I would love one if it was the whole design was scaled up to perhaps 28'

As Steve said I have no personal comparison between the two layups, it is from feedback from customers who have driven both.

I think stiffer is a "feel" thing and again it's only what people have reported back to us. The transom area is put together totally differently with knees running up next to the bolt holes and not outside the well, and transom / knee construction adds strength / stiffness as well - at least in theory, and customer feedback agrees with all of this, although it is very subjective and not measurable without some sophisticated measuring equipment and a big budget.

I believe Nick is undecided as he has not driven the latest spec himself, I am very much looking forward to his feedback as he is the one with the most experience of the 18 and 19 Phantoms.
