Puma, designed by Jo Donahue, and built by him and Paul Hicks, I think....

Wasn't Puma owned by Johm Yeoman from Poole ? I think there were three Unipart (the one you are on about ) Westons Kodak and Fat Cat.

I think you're right re Fat Cat I think it was built for a chap called Jason Mucklow ? who lived in the C I but think the NZ boat was not a Puma. I'm sure that was brought over here and renamed Blighline.

Fat Cat was indeed built for Jason Mucklow in '89ish. She had the original XR2 150's originally but re-engined with drop on cowl XR2's a couple of years later. He raced her for several years with mixed results, then sold her to his brother-in-law Paul Miller (Jersey) who continued to race her but I think for only a year. Can't remember what happened to her after that but if anyone's interested I can easily ask Jason.
Moose.

I believe Rob Mills bought it and it became papa kilo and went through a few transformations in its time.

if you look at 5.44 you can see Fat Cat in the back ground and in the foreground is Do It All which was Clive Jones's boat that he had a nasty accident in a couple of years later and next to it is Graham Briggs boat Go For It which i think was Nutex before.

Fat Cat did indeed become Papa Kilo, Rob drove the original boat very well indeed (with Steve Hutch as nav), it then got lengthened and widened and centre canopied by Rob & Tracie. looked lovely, but didn't go (as the larger Papa Kilo)
Unipart Puma (Venom) was slow. The 2 sister boats of Fat Cat & Westons Kodak (built side by side I think) ( WK later became Richard Struttons Sweet Dreams/Petrel Stainless Steel) were much better, then Hospitality Inns was the next generation Puma, faster still and a much more technical build, but not the same animal in the rough as the two predecessors. Richard was very quick in the rough in his Puma, but broke it a lot!

Hi Jon, I remember watching a hell of a race off Bournmouth late 80's between Hospitality and I think it was the Strutton Puma, still got it on wobbly video.
Stats, Thanks for the links, my cat has the Yams but I cant look up the vid at work, will have a butchers at home later
