At the age of 5,6,7 onwards I used to go out with my dad that owned a classic racer called boffins coffin number 12 a glaston 171 that raced here in the 60s We followed many Cowes to torquay races, always viewing from boat at the start finish line to here thunder of class 1s going by!
My favourites was Dry martini and most of all the 77 Limit Up cigarette boat!
Two weeks ago i went aboad the 78 winning Dry Martini cigarette thats been restored and currently for sale in hampshire england, While on board it, it brought many fine memories that cannot be replaced seeing 30 to 40 boats like racing to torquay and Limit up 77 was one of them! i live near farnborough Hampshire UK where the two boats were housed, 78 was a bigger boat and then the owners bought a cat! these too i believe were then peter stuyvesant boats and then number 78 was made into a pleasure boat! filled with comfort; bedding, tv and a cooker etc! Boring life for it!
So can anyone tell me if the 77 limit up hull is still going! and does anyone have old pictures of her!
cheers
Steve.

She looks great but is no longer a true classic and is at least 60,000 over the top. Go to www.offshoreonly.com
look thru classified and compere what you ban get for the same money.......
As for RBR entry sorry to disagree but would not be suitable, and couldn't enter classic class.

I didnt like the hand brushed finish when i went aboard! it was like some painted her with B&Q gloss white with a course brush! and i couldnt fit in the shower toliet cabing so I wouldnt be buying her!
I didnt think the wind screen went with her either! it didnt go with the lines of the boat for me!
Having said that it was still great to see her and go aboard! even thou i had to wait for 30 years to do so as i wrote to jim-a-fix-it to ask him if he could fit it for me to have a ride in Dry martini or Limit up! he didnt reply

Yes i do! my father took alot of photos of Limit up 77 and the bigger Limit up 78 for us, there was a couple of shot taken while the boat were in the factory in hampshire.
I still have them in an album but my main PC isnt working so i cannot scan and show them to you at the moment!

I know Pete Downie often browses Boatmad. Perhaps he might be able to shed some light on the whereabouts and history of the Limit Up/Peter Stuyvesant boats.

Re: Dry Martini. If it´s the same windscreen that was on the boat a few years back it came from either an early Sunseeker or Fairline. Completely out of place.
