Bloody nice trim job you've done there, got a really tidy looking boat!

Thanks guys, didnt know what sort of reaction I would get as a newbie doing their first boat! Trying to mix the race and the leisure.

My last project (the truck) took me about 4 months and the one before that 4years (car). The boat, I wanted to blitz so I could use it this summer 2 weeks so far on building.
Its like any project though, I say to my wife "just going down to do a few small things on the boat" at 9 in the morning look at my watch after the first 10 min job and its lunchtime, glance again and its 6 oclock.ha love it though.

I've made a few other bits and tried some stuff out. Will pop some other pic's up.

I forgot to mention the name 'Hawkeye' hense the eye at the back I designed and cut with a craft knife, bit more of a fiddle than the numbers, one of those 5min jobs! I'd like to get the 'Hawkeye' in big black to go just infront of the eye but I'll sort that out with a machine when I'm back at work.

Just got to sort this battery out before Wednesday, planning a day trip out with a couple of mates.

Dont know abaout a bigger lump yet, just want to use the boat a bit.

I started it up today with the muffs on to check that it was the battery, was a bit flooded with fuel so cleaned off the plugs and it started up. The tell tale was a bit erratic, fire out fine last time it was started.

I poked about up the tell tale and moved the muffss on a bit better and turned the tap up and it fired out better.

Want to clean out the tell tale, you can blow through it with a hose but do you do this with the engine stopped or running? Stopped I thought but want to make sure.

I hope its all alright.

I would do it without the engine running otherwise you will force water back agianst the impeller and pump. Might be worth putting a new impeller in anyway. As i have seen some people get their boat out the water, start and rev the nuts out the engine dry to get rid of the salt water in it. Muffs are not always the best way to check water is pumping. My engine would never pump properly on muffs as could never get enough water in, the larger engines anyway as they need so much water. Best way i think is fill a tank up with water lower engine in so pick up completely submerged, that way you know there is plenty of water. But thats just what i would do.

Went out today twice made the most of the high tides, motor and tell tale ran fine, had a great time.

Only thing I noticed today was it popped out of reverse a couple of times? Any ideas on that please.

Here are some pic's

My mate Dan

Dan helped me clean up the workshop today (been a bit busy!ha) and he found this.
Any ideas on era?

We thought it was cool, and Hawkeye's colours too not stuck it on though.

Unless you have a gearbox problem the cable may need adjusting - it can be done either end, but the engine end is best as you can see what you're doing, it should be obvious but there is probably a mark for neutral. Boat looks great!

I think it could be a adjustment problem as the cables popped out of the control panel (I fixed that though) I'll have a look at the engine end, tighter or less needed?

I had Clarkes stickers like that on my bedroom door!! I must've been 6 or 7 and we had to tow it in Guernsey harbour in my dad's little Fletcher, went to the pits afterwards and they gave us a load of stickers and merchandise. I'd say they're late 80s. God I miss Powerboat Week!!

Your boat looks really tidy, good work!
