Mercury Outboards....
Hi there,
I've been doing alot of reading on this site and understand that there are quite a few people in the know with regards to Mercury outboards......So
I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what horsepower outboards Mercury (or Mariner) made from 1989 onwards that were 4 cylinders and from 70-90hp?
And from what year were these oil injected?
Or is there a link to a site that will list them for me to make life easier?
Thanks in advance.
Grant

AFAIK 70HP-90HP from 1989 onwards were all three cylinders. Four cylinders started @ 100HP & up.
What exactly do you need to know? Are you looking at a specific 2ndhand engine? I still have some old brochures lying around ('92, '93, '94 etc) from when I bought mine, so maybe I could look it up.

the old 50/45 classic were an ancient 4 pot, then the later 100/115 were that dreadful 4 pot that ran on two cylinders at idle.
Many years back, the 65/80/85 were a 4 pot.
Agree with the Ors about 3 pot motors.
dunno any more than that.

after merc phased out the 4 cylinders and in line 6's between about 85-89 i think all engines were
75, 80 & 90 3 cyl
100, 115 (and newer 125) 4 cyl....some were 2 + 2cyl funny feckers....i seem to remember them kicking in the extra 2 pots around 1500rpm....nice when your trying to get up in ski's!!
135, 150 & XR2 2.0L V6
150+hp (and newer 135's) 2.5L V6
job done

"Oil Injection would be nice"
If you get one with "Oil Injection", do away with it.
I'll let you down one day big time!
Far better to pre-mix, that way you'll know the engine is getting the lube stuff.
