petrol vs diesel
just a question lets say i removed my cummins merc diesel 300 @3900 and wanted to replace it with a petrol engine what petrol engine would i need to go for for simlar performance

In one of my 26's, a 315hp Yanmar gives very similar performance to a 6.2 Mercruiser.

what hp is the 6.2
and what sort of speeds are you getting with the yanmar are you using a bravo diesel or an xr

the first 26 with a yanmar ran 62 mph with a std bravo 1. it suffered a drive failure coz the customer wound up the idle to remove the gear chatter....
Later ones have had 1X's, without any failures.

its a 27ft scarab built from kevlar the complete weight with cmd and drive will be around 1.7 ton

That's around the same weight as my 26's, although I'd imagine we're a bit narrower!

im not sure the waterline width but at the widest point she is 7ft 9" i will measure the waterline width tomorrow
