Race Preparation
I am looking to race my phantom 20 next year in Basic Races.I think the boat has most of the correct safety equipment but could do with clarifying if I need to have both an electric and a manual bilge pump.If anyone has a list of both Boat and Driver /Passenger requirements could they PM or post on here-Thanks.I don't want to arrive at first event and find I can't race for a minor issue.PS contacted RYA with no response?????????????

Basic race
From memory you will need the following...
Crash helmets 50% or more in orange (with boat numbers on top)
Suitable lifejackets (with whistle)
VHF radio
Nav lights
Bilge pumps (electric AND manual)
Orange retirement flag
Paddles
Anchor with suitable rope attached
Flares (minimum 2 x orange smoke)
Knife (each)
Fire extinguisher
Sterile Compress (each)
Engine cutouts for driver and nav
Current navigation chart for area of race
Compass
I am sure that others will add to this list for you.

Best to get the latest copy of PB1 ( good mag shop or RYA) & read the basic requirements along with the Bulletin list posted on the RYA web site.
I could put a list up tonight but that would be from an older revision.
anybody with the latest post away, From memory which aint too good dont need a VHF, Nav Lights, Charts for Basic.
I'm sure you will get a reply from the RYA at some point. Heck might even treat myself to the latest copy of PB1 one day.

You may be right John, but when we did CTC this year we were asked for all of these - could just have been an overly keen scruteneer though!
PB1 definitely best bet.
