Hi Mark of Poole, are you sure as you come from Poole like me ... their is a headland in the distance ... however it can only be 3 places ... Poole which it isn't, Guernsey which makes that headland seem odd or perhaps its just Jersey in the distance, or as you say IOW funny thing is I just cant recall this slipway on the IOW, so I guess I haven't paid much attention the few times I've been over lately
Oh and next question is the year as I'm trying to find pics to put in another thread

It's the marina crane area (not a slipway) in Cowes Yacht Haven, the headland is at the bottom of Osbourne House.

For me its either 1989 or 1990.
The cat I think is Baguta/Rainbow Bears Cougar, but clues in the background are Mariner Magazine (Ex Aquaglide Wright class 2 cat) and Follet Car Group CUV
Follet I believe finished in '89 but I dont know if was racing in1990?
Mariner magazine was definitely 1990
Any other ideas?

The Cat is SDA.
The quadruple Formula1 motored boat of Edwardo Poli (owner of the Rainbow Bears race team), a CUV I 'think', where's Pete Currington when you need him?.... Sometimes it had two drives & siamese gearboxes, sometimes 4. Always blisteringly fast for part of the race, only to break before the flag.
Deffo, without a shadow of doubt, Cowes Yacht haven.

1990
I stand corrected- The cat's SDA -obvious from he 4 engines/hatches.
However I cheated and looked at the 1990 CTC video (very interestting) and there's Folet Cars being launched at the same travel hoist...
- so 1990 it is

And canopy type, lack of Lamborginis/Arnesons etc.
Big boat that SDA, 44' I think? And Bagutta was ?? seem to think it was a sprint boat, 37, or not much larger. (I mean the nice new one he sank, not the old one they dragged out to complete the season following the loss)
