Wooden boat built by my dad from plans in DIY magazine with a seagull 40.
I still have that little outboard and sincerely doubt Id ever part with it!
It was stuck in a shed at home after a summer and forgotten about, then when I got the hydrostream I was looking for a little outboard to bring out in the boat. So pulled out the seagull, put fresh juice in it and it started 4th pull !

1949 Chris Craft #17 ' Special Runabout which was a utility that was more of a deluxe model with white striped decks , even the motor box . Also with flashy red and white seats which made the boat look very hot .

Ignoring childhood boats & oddities my first proper boat was an early 60's Fairey Cinderella hot moulded runabout bought in '75, unfinished from new 7 still unfinished. First working boat was around '86 with an Elan (pictured) with a 55 Mariner. Don't know anything about them but it wasn't anything special. Sold when I got fed up with dragging it up & down the shingle beach as there are no slipways near here.

What a great thread!
I have really enjoyed reading and relating to this thread, nice one!
I know its a 'first boat' thread but I can't resist....
Campri 8' inflatable 2hp mariner (Splashing river water on it to keep it going!)
Newbourne Sniper 10, 4.5 Evinrude twin (and it planed!)
Microboat with 18hp (long shaft but when finally over the hill, Jesus!)
Flatacraft Force 3, 9.9 Johnson
Seafire 9', 25hp Selva
Flatacraft Force 4, 55hp Yamaha
Dell Quay dory 13, 40hp Mercury, later a 50hp 4cyl merc
Broom Scorpio 100hp Johnson V4
Broom Aquarius 90hp Mariner (still sad about selling her 15 years later!)
Riamar 16, 90hp Yamaha
Redbay 8.4 twin Suzuki DF140s
And at last... Phantom 21, single or twin DF140s (Haven't built it yet!)
Just sold my Yamaha superjet (paid for the Phantom

my first boat
back in 1983 rother and i found an old 16ft hartley half cabin ply job out the bush . it was fitted with a worked 179 hp holden 6 [about 190 hp]and a robbi stern drive. we had to replace all the rubber hoses and the steering cables and with fresh fuel and oil this thing fired up and ran nicely. we used to pack all our mates and a couple of cartons of fosters and head off down the tamar for a days cruising and skiing.we all learnt to ski behind the old girl . it would pull out two slalem skiiers with everyone onboard and top out just under 50mph . this old girl made me addicted to inboards but they were too expensive and rare here in tassie , so a number of outboards followed , the last one a vandal 17 with twin 200 blue bands on a stainless pod. sold that to buy my house . now 15 years later got my mits on a avenger 21" which is probably older than them all . my kids are old enough to ski now so i,d better pull my finger out and get it finished.
