Long distance class 3 racing

Just been reminded by one of our "Pirates" Andy Hiscock about what I would call "proper offshore racing" for the class 3 fleet. Five hours of hard and painful racing from London to Calais and back to London. These boats are well capable of doing these long races but do the crews and organisers have the stomach to run such races? There's still the Cowes/Poole/Cowes race which isn't happening anymore. Why not Southampton/Poole/Southampton? That would be a real test of man and machine - based out of Drivers!
