Pics and prop results

Last night was a bit more promising.

The speed is coming up now the best we seen was 76.1mph at 5750rpm.
The speed was still climing fast but we ran out of water, I think the run was between 15-20 secs at WOT.

Here are a couple of pics with Burty in the seat.
This show's how big the inside of this boat is, remember Burty is around 6ft-2"

Clamps

Ok I thought Stickers (race numbers and crew names) need doing so booked those in for 11.00am.

I also made a call to another fab shop I use smaller one closer to home, to see if he could mod the clamps.

10.00am arrived at fab shop with boat and proceeded to mod' the clamps to suit.

We basically cut the clamps (see pic) and added 16.3mm back in (15mm + 1.3 blade 'thk')

He also welded the ski pole to the top oval mount as I was concerned about any movement would cause the gelcoat to crack.

As he had no 10mm stainless steel he used 2 pieces of 5mm welded together.

I left him to it and towed the boat over to the sticker guy who is only 1/2 a mile up the road, it took 2 hours there to get everything done (sorry no pics yet)

Back to the fab shop to pick up what I can only describe as an amazing job
I really though that this would be a temporary fix for the weekend but I could not tell that they had been cut and welded, the guy had also polished them back to a mirror finish.(again sorry no pics as yet)

Here is a couple of pics of the modified clamps.
There is no way of telling that they have been cut and shut

Yeh I guess it is as the Bernico was a lovely boat.
The rigging on this one is as good or better than the Bernico, I would say that the layout is basically the same inside.

Just got to hope it performs as well

The materials used in the build of this one are far better than the materials used on the Bernico build.

Cheers

Prop Testing

We are planning to go out again on Wednesday night in Weston around 4.30pm

The test runs we performed last night were with the engine at the same height as the weekend.

Wednesday we plan to run the best 2-3 props with the engine higher first of all the lower measuring speed and revs whilst monitoring drivability and hole-shot.

Hopefully we will see over 80MPH.
Last night the boat was still pulling very well at 76.1mph with plenty of speed still to come so it may be promising if Weston is flat enough for a speed run.

Boat on new trailer

Well we finished the new trailer on Saturday.
We had a trial fit last weekend before it went for galv which is when we found out it was too low

Monday night we modified it to give a 2" lift in ride height which worked out perfect.

Brakes run through the underside of the trailer, winch strap runs through the winch post.

Really happy with how the boat looks now, it has definately grown on me

You can see the difference the old and new trailer make to the look of the boat.
