HI hope someone can help, i have just bought a driver 500 and will be fitting a yamaha 90hp outboard to it. Just curious to see what sort of speed i can expect out of it.
Offset ?

Driver
The Driver was designed by Ray Stapley.
He is well known for his cats but people forget his monos built in wood.
The hull you have was lifted off a wooden Stapley, which was then sold by Doug Driver.
The plastic Driver didn't do a whole pile in Offshore racing Mark Unwin from your Island raced one (I think, Memory blurred!) and a guy called Tim Grimshaw ran one for a season in 1982.
An old wooden version won the 1985 World 1.3L Championship in Guernsey.
That boat is now sitting in the Powerboat Museum in Basildon Essex.
It ran ok in the rough and had a fair turn of speed.
And the speed ? 53-54 mph
Speak to Jon stapley http://www.raystapleymarine.co.uk/
His dad designed it!

Ciao,
Were all the Stapley Monos wood or were any GRP ones made?
Have you got any pictures of the monos you could post?
Cheers

JF I'm a bit of a 404 when it comes to this sort of thing. What is warp (apart from a measurement of speed on Star trek)

'Warp' is a reference to to a deadrise angle that is steeper in the bow than at the transom, as apposed to a substantially constant deadrise like that of a Phantom. so you can imagine looking along one side of the bottom, and the surface is literally warped from transom to bow as the deadrise increases.
