Found cause of running fault!
So maybe this is why there was no bang from the bottom cylinder!
Amazingly it still ran though which is why I didn't expect it to be that bad, looks like it's run lean and got slightly warm!
Had left a lot of the piston behind on the liner but not messed up much else.
Long story short: it's now been sorted and honed (will still take a standard size piston), going to collect the block tomorrow, order piston, rings, rod bolts, gaskets etc from work when I've got the spare money and whack it back together.
Looked dreadful when I first split the crank and slid the piston out but isn't going to cost more than £100 absoloute max and should be sorted in a couple of weeks.
