The Cougar Thunderboat was originaly designed/marketed by Cougar as a one design racing class, they happened to fit the 'Pro Vee' class that came soon after.
I spoke with PJC earlier, and the pictured boat IS the race boat in the latter pic he posted, it's been converted to a pleasure cockpit.
The fact that they are now marketing, and saying they're built in the USA, is something Cougar will no doubt be talking to them about.
As you say, the 'splash' looks very nice indeed with the open cockpit, and Pete said it was something they had always thought would be a good progression for the Thunderboat hull.

Yes, modded to take a Tri-max drive, the original Thunderboats ('Cougar', 'Thunderbird' etc) had Speedmasters.

Sorry, wasn't being funny, I know you guys did.
I think it's a good looking boat and wondered who came up with the shape.

Roots, kunta kinta, and all that. There seems to be a few lines from the US1 that seem very Bertram like. (11-15% Differences)
