To be fair I think they (the organisers) do a pretty good job, though they do have plenty of financial support from Honda! Coverage is good with a regular TV show and all the teams seem to have some form of good sponsorship.
The 150 class was quite a success in terms of getting novices racing - if a little slow in speeds though this may not be a bad thing? The racing is close - 'bumper car' close sometimes!
The newer 225 class whilst not living up to its claims of 75mph racing is certainly a lot quicker, and usually more exciting - due in part to the boats' "lively" handling!
Have lost count of the number of times these boats have rolled, think it was twice in testing before 1st ever race! The organisers don't seem to worried about this - I'm sure it could be remidied but I guess they think it makes for a more exciting spectical! OK until someone gets seriously hurt.
Have heard rumblings that this year some of the new boats/engines are more equal than others which defeats the object of one design.
The concept is good to a point but I feel that too much one design racing can be bad for the sport. It doesn't allow for any advancement in the design of boats / engines which is one of the principle reasons for racing - Sir Max Aitken's Cowes-Torquay philosophy etc etc.
Also one design often results in some teams having a very small but significant advantage caused by differences due to manufacturing tolerances or other factors....kind of ruins the one design spirit.
Good luck to them though as to a point it can only be good for the sport especially if it raises media awareness
