260 Airhorn
My 225 promax I have been told is the same block as the 260 2.5 offshore. So I have decided to get a 260 Airhorn for it.
Now, will the airhorn simply bolt onto my promax's front half or will I need a 260 front half aswel or is this a question that nobody really knows and we'll just have to wait and see?
(Tony Davis I'm looking at you.)
Thanks.

I just thought I might get away with just putting on a horn for better airflow into the system

The promax block isnt the same as a 260 block. To fit a 260 airhorn you would need to fit the 260's 7 petal reed block too which the promax front half won't accept as its a 5 petal setup!!!
Whilst we're on the subject of airhorns check this out, its very amusing:

Pro max
pro max 225 are 7 petal
i have 2 of them
yes you can fit an 260airhorn but you will have to make a spacer
plate
i made one out of wood to get all the measurments right
now just in need of a good machinist to make it in aluminium
there are some holes to be made for the 6 side bolt's
but just to give you an idea
by the way if your engine is not ported stick with your original intake you can try to pump in as much air as you can but if it has no where to go you will loose power instead of gaining
been down this route

Speak to Dan on this forum I should imagine he could machine your spacer plates.

No! lol But I am sure you can do it by post.
Will this plate eliminate the need to fit a 260 front half in order to fit a 260 airhorn??

plate
yep everything will be a complete bolt on
i'm still having a hard time figuring out the different bolt sizes and thread types and where to get them
as i don't want to do anything to my original stuff
and keep all the block and reed bolt holes original
ofcourse in the UK this is not an issue

plate
in a couple of weeks i will be going to van ackelijen in belgium
don't know if you have ever seen one of his engines
but he makes his own custom cilinder sleeves for the high performance engines
i will ask him if his machinist can make it at a fair price
i also know someone in holland but he will do a cad program
and that will cost a bundle
so kinda safe that for a last resort

You might be OK with MDF.
To be vaguely serious, wood is actually a good insulator of heat. So while it sounds ridiculous to use it, it could actually work pretty well assuming you could get all the mountings to work OK - and of course you'd have to seal it very well to stop it getting soaked in fuel.
