Falcon Boats?
Anyone know anything about the "Falcon Bonito". It's about 1999, 36ft, twin 260hp Mercruisers. Photos below.
Anything would be helpfull, specially it's value.

I think some or all were completed as kit boats by their owners, so they were all a bit unique - not sure about this, but it may help if no-one else has anything to offer!

I have to agree with cookee I think most were 'home' finished, I looked at one last year with twin bmw diesels in it.
A few have come up on ebay now and again, As for price they seem a lot of boat for the money compared to say a sunseeker or similar.
If you want a lot of boat for little money then there worth a look.
I might have some pic's on my home computer of the one i looked at if you want me to forward them to you pm your email addy

By the way the only one I know of sank after going to the Channel Islands and (nearly) back - OCRDA will tell you the full story, but delamination in the cabin area was to blame!

The Bonito falcon was based I think on Miss Pearlcorder ? which was raced by Noel Edmonds .Built/raced by Bonito and marketed by Dorset Yacht Company in Poole alot were raced in cruiser class in the late 80's then a company called Falcon marine built them in Wareham early 90's ish . I have a report and brochure somewhere.

Still looking
Hi All,
I'm still looking for any information possible, regarding this boat. I would like to find some original specifications and I would like to know where to find the HIN. I believe this model is the "Bonito Falcon 36 Royale but nothing for sure yet.
Anything that anyone can offer would be apreciated.
Thanks
Pete

Were they the Bonito's that were built at Torpoint , Plymouth in the early 80s ????
Seems ver similar the the moulds that were knocking around in Torpoint a few years ago. I once saved one from sinking late one night at the Southampton Boat Show and that had Twin Iveco Diesels in it . Same year as the Graham-Smith Brothers in Penthouse,
Or have I got completely the wrong boat ?

Hi Timtap,
I have no idea, to be honest. There have been a few suggestions but not found anything deffinate yet. Here is a clear photo, if it helps. This has a pair of 260 Mercruisers in it. The serial numbers date to about the right build year. I have found a connection to southern Spain, inside her and a link to Paraguay, from the customs papers. Still quite blind.
Thanks
Pete

Hi again, is this boat "taboo" or something. I hear that many of the south coast boys should know more than whatīs being said? Any information will help. Please.

I know Rob (OCRDA) is in Spain at the moment, but it was all a long time ago - I don't think there were that many made and as a home build the quality would be up to the person fitting them out. Doesn't look bad and I would price it cheaper than a mainstream manufacturer as it is an odd make. It would certainly be worth a survey as the engine and drive condition would play the biggest part in pricing this boat I would think. Then take it for a sea trial and bear in mind you'll have to sell it one day!

Thanks Cookee, I have bought it already and simply looking for itīs background / roots. I understand it was built a long time ago but the boat is sound and not very used. I feel it was a luxery and used very rarely.
Both engines appear ok, just silly things like 1 water pump and a starter solonoid. One leg needs a gear box but apart from that, itīs cosmetic. Nothing like the work I put into Patriot.
It would be great to find out more about the design, manufaturers and anything that could help. I canīt even insure it, without the HIN and I have no idea where to find it.
Thanks again.

I'm sure I've told you this before, but anyhow....
The boats were at one time built by Brian Whitmarsh, who I believe now resided in France where he dabbles with ribs etc.
It may be possible to contact his son Jamie, who I think works for Sunseeker somewhere abroad, possibly Spain.
The Falcons weren't a great success, and didn't sell in any real numbers, they were available in both sterndrive and outboard, they also did a shorter version, as seen in another thread.
David Sewell (geriatric) would be the man to ask about them, as he campaigned one in cruiser class.

It won't have a HIN, as the boat is way to old for what is a relatively recent requirement. It may have a hull no, feck knows where that'd be!
