iv got the cash ready but what do i need to know.....
Now then all...
Im from Yorkshire and have plenty of boating experience having been in and around boats all my life.. Im now 25...
i had a few ribs and smaller outboards and never had any problems
i wanting to go all out and get a phantom or equiv
iv no idea about anything as far the these mercs and hulls are like to own and run.
THE BOAT:
i guess the hulls take a hammering if raced hard so standard fibreglass stress etc should be looked for. things like upholsery condition is by the by its what specification is really needed to utlise this boat properly as i plan to holiday on the south coast with it so i was wondering if you guys could help.
Is a straight boat with a bolt on black max a better outfit to buy or is it worth looking out for trim tabs, bow balast tank transome bracket, efi, 2.5 merc with orwith out bullet g/box
its not a race boat by any means but i dont want something that is unusable..
the second thing i would like to ask is about the running and maintaining of the outboard
i am on a budget here which i know is difficult as i am aware that 250 quids worth of juice is going to struggle to surfice a blast from salcombe to dartmouth and back??
its the reliabilty that conserns me, i see people replacing coil packs, i guess there are 6? thats got to be dear?
i also hear there is a large array of specialist tools required to work on them.
how brittle are they?
the packages i have been looking at dont stretch to over £4000 so you can imagine the things i am looking at.
i would appreiciate any help.
Many thanks!!
