sealing the xr2 cowl

whats the best way of sealing the back of the xr2 cowl...sick of water dumping the bottom coils when i stop the boat and the water runs up the transom. please dont say new tray and cowl as this is not an option till winter.would a car door rubber with a deep V work that the cowl could push into????

or just remember to turn to port or starboard when you come off the plain and wave just goes past. becomes second nature on a fully ballasted mastercraft
