sterndrive v arneson

anyone ever done a direct comparison of a sterndrive boat v surface drive??

Alot of the surface drives look very simple. Are they cheaper than sterndrives????

It's more complicated than that.

I was wondering how for eg cookee is calculationg his gains using surface drive as against conventional sterndrive..... I remember a sealine or princess with surface drives, they did a head to head, but obvioulsy a very different boat

Surface drives on a non stepped boat won't see the gains you could on a stepped boat, as you lose the ability to carry the bows (trim out)

A good stepped hull doesn't require any bow lift to attain best max speed.
