Xr2 -> 2.5
I have my old XR2 which I can't sell so I was thinking about replacing powerhead into 2.5 litre.
What do you guys think?
Will it work? Will CLE lower handle that power?
What do I need to do that besides new powerhead and tuner?
Mike

it will go straight on dude, you may need to open out the exhaust holes in the tuner adaptor plate if you have a genuine xr2 one but thats about it, everything else including the loom will go straight on. of course you will need to run the high pressure fuel pump rather than a low pressure unit that some people run on the xr2's.
O and you'll need a fuel return hose back to the tank

If your going to a Hi Per 2.5 ( 245,260, 280, Drag ) you WILL need a 1 piece tuner adapter and a high Pressure Bosch fuel pump with a 5/16 " return line back to the tank...

What 2.4 are you talking about than? Bridgeport has one piece plate so that should work with a 260.
A 2.4 200 efi has two piece plate so than you need a 1 piece.

Be careful mixing and matching exhaust parts . A 1 piece 2.4 exhaust plate exits will be DWARFED by the exit size of a much larger 2.5 block.. And IF you try and gasket match the smaller 2.4 1 piece to the larger 2.5 you will short cut the water side of the gasket area . This causes the very small piece of gasket thats left after blending to be easily fatigued and fail pulling water into 5 & 6 cylinders possibly costing you an engine..
Just some friendly advice from someone that has seen the failure occur...Your always MILES ahead and will be 100% successful using system matched parts...
Been there and done it !!!
Good luck,
Jay

According if the 2.5 is a High Per engine.. The high per engines had their own 1 piece tuner adapter that FITS.. To adapt a 2.4 one piece to a 2.5 engine "can" result in the above warning...
Cheers,
Jay

According to what EFI your running:
1. If your running a Lazzer style injecting you do NOT need a return line nor an additional pump. They have a vaccume style helper pump to keep the VST tank full so the high pressure pump located in the VST tank can furnish the injectors with high pressure fuel..
2. If your running a high performance engine ( 260-280-Drag-F-1 ) you will need the matching Bosch high pressure fuel pump and regulator to match the demands of your particular ECU. ( some ECU's are low pressure as some are high ) The gold regulator is 39 lbs ( low pressure ) and the black regulator is 56 lbs ( high pressure ) . The lower pressure ECU can use the smaller Bosch pump and the 56 will need the large capacity one.. As well as a 5/16" ID return line back to the tank.. The demand of these High pressure pumps is taxing on the motor's electrical system, I suggest to NOT use the keyed switched purple wire to power the pump. I would use the keyed switched purple hot wire for an exciter for a direct relay to the hot side of the battery and hook the negative of the battery directly to the neg of the pump..
Hope this information is/was usable..
Jay
