Also has the pickup tube got the guide installed if not the seal can distort and block the tube when you fit the box.

Calibrate the gauge
I have found that in the past the guages (even brand new ones) can be upto 6psi out, I have a hand held calibrated pump that I used to check them with.
I also used to check the fuel pressure gauge.

Can you please elaborate on this bit TT?
Are you talking about the outlet on the pump housing?

Item 37 is there to act as a guide for the inlet tube. Use a little grease in the seal and fit the sleeve as a guide and the box should just push on gently. I often see people wind the box on with the nuts because the box won't seat properly because the pipe is not entering the seal correctly, resulting in a damaged seal.

Also can you define "not much pressure?" and how many holes your CLE has?

Make sure you fit the sleeve and that will stop the seal getting damaged again.

Cookee;
Mine is a two hole CLE, pressure is below 5psi.
Do the number of holes affect the pressure?
I see Blackbeards' CLE has one, Mike K had three, was it a case of Mercs' "running refinements"?

As Burty says the 2 hole is the earlier one - I would like to see more than 5psi "at speed", but it may be the gauge!
